234 BLOG LINGKUNGAN INDONESIA
PENGANTAR
Apakah ada Blog yang membahas masalah lingkungan? Kalau ada berapa banyak
jumlahnya? Siapa penulis Blog-Blog yang bertemakan lingkungan tersebut?
Pertanyaan-pertanyaan ini timbul ketika saya membaca sebuah artikel yang
berjudul Top 100 Blog Indonesia (atau kira-kira seperti itu) Dari daftar 100
buah Blog itu mana saja Blog yang membahas mengenai topik lingkungan? Oleh
karena tidak ada waktu untuk "melihat" satu per satu isi dari ke-seratus Blog
tersebut, maka saya membuat sebuah riset kecil untuk menjawab
pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang muncul di benak saya itu. Yang jelas riset ini sangat
tidak ilmiah dan subyektif sekali, karena metode yang digunakan juga secara
alakadarnya. :-))
APA ITU BLOG?
Sebelum membahas hasil riset saya yang sangat tidak ilmiah ini, saya akan
menyinggung sedikit tentang Blog. Uraian berikut ini saya sarikan sari artikel
yang berjudul: Apa tuh Blog? hasil karya Enda Nasution.
· Blog adalah singkatan dari Weblog. Istilah Weblog untuk menyebut
kelompok website pribadi yang selalu diupdate secara kontinyu dan berisi
link-link ke website lain yang mereka anggap menarik disertai dengan
komentar-komentar mereka sendiri.
· Blog kemudian berkembang mencari bentuk sesuai dengan kemauan para
pembuatnya atau para Blogger. Blog adalah cara mudah untuk mengenal kepribadian
seseorang Blogger. Topik-topik apa yang dia sukai dan tidak dia sukai, apa yang
dia pikirkan terhadap link-link yang dia pilih, apa tanggapannya pada suatu isu.
Seluruhnya biasanya tergambar jelas dari Blog-nya. Karena itu Blog bersifat
sangat personal.
· Perkembangan lain dari Blog yaitu ketika kemudian Blog bahkan tidak lagi
memuat link-link tapi hanya berupa tulisan tentang apa yang seorang Blogger
pikirkan, rasakan, hingga apa yang dia lakukan sehari-hari. Blog kemudian juga
menjadi Diary Online yang berada di Internet.
· Satu-satunya hal yang membedakan Blog dari Diary atau Jurnal yang biasa
kita miliki adalah bahwa Blog dibuat untuk dibaca orang lain. Para Blogger
dengan sengaja mendesain Blog-nya dan isinya untuk dinikmati orang lain.
· Siapa sih para Blogger di Internet ini? Evan Williams, pendiri
Blogger.com berpendapat, “Mayoritas Blogger adalah anak-anak muda atau
mahasiswa. Dan banyak diantara mereka yang menggunakannya untuk berkomunikasi
dengan teman-temannya.”.
· Setiap orang tentu saja dapat membuat Blog-nya masing-masing, tapi
seperti yang dikatakan Evan, Blogger saat ini kebanyakan terdiri dari para
penulis diary muda yang dinamis, offbeat dan punya opini untuk segala hal. Dalam
kata lain mereka adalah generasi yang tidak takut berpendapat dan mengungkapkan
pendapat mereka.
· Ketika setiap harinya ia mengupdate Blog-nya ia mulai mempertimbangkan
opini dan ide-idenya dengan lebih hati-hati dan ia mulai merasakan bahwa
perspektifnya adalah unik dan penting untuk disuarakan.
· Ketika seorang blogger menuliskan apa yang ada di pikirannya, maka ia
akan sering berkonfrontasi dengan pikiran-pikiran dan opininya sendiri. Menulis
Blog, atau Blogging, setiap hari akan membuat Blogger menjadi penulis yang lebih
percaya diri. Dengan terbiasa mengekspresikan pikirannya pada Blog-nya, seorang
Blogger dapat dengan lebih baik mengartikulasikan opininya. Blog bahkan dapat
menjadi semacam terapi jiwa.
· Blog dengan caranya sendiri sepertinya membuat hidup, pikiran, opini dan
kegiatan Bloggernya lebih mempunyai tujuan dan lebih teratur.
· Apa ada para Blogger indonesia? Website yang mendaftar para Blogger
Indonesia yaitu Indo.Blogs . Kriteria satu-satunya agar Blog terdaftar pada
Indo.Blogs hanyalah berkebangsaan Indonesia, tanpa memandang secara geografis
lokasi kamu berada.
· Lalu apakah ada Community Blog Indonesia? Silahkan arahkah browser ke
MSN.OR.ID . Para Blogger disini disebut “celetukers” karena sifatnya dimana
masing-masing Blogger memang menyeletukan sesuatu yang kemudian mengisi website
ini.
· Lebih jauh lagi tentang Komunitas Blogger di Indonesia? Bloggerians
adalah mailing list diskusi terbuka untuk komunitas para Blogger Indonesia yang
terbentuk sejak bulan Maret 2001 dan saat ini dianggotai oleh 45 anggota (saat
artikel ini dibuat oleh Enda Nasution pada akhir tahun 2001).
APA ITU BLOG LINGKUNGAN?
· Blog Lingkungan adalah blog yang bertemakan lingkungan. Dalam hal ini
istilah lingkungan dimaknai sangat longgar, yaitu segala sesuatu yang berkaitan
dengan lingkungan hidup.
· Bila ingin definisi lingkungan yang lebih akurat dapat dilihat pada
Pasal 1 UU No. 23 Tahun 1997 tentang Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup, yaitu
"Lingkungan hidup adalah kesatuan ruang dengan semua benda, daya, keadaan, dan
makhluk hidup, termasuk manusia, dan perilakunya, yang mempengaruhi kelangsungan
perikehidupan dan kesejahteraan manusia serta makhluk hidup lain".
· Isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan hidup antara lain: air, hutan,
indonesia, konservasi, lingkungan, masyarakat adat, pencemaran, pertanian,
polusi, taman nasional, tambang, tanah, dan lain-lain.
· Blog Lingkungan ditulis oleh para blogger, baik oleh orang Indonesia
maupun oleh orang asing - baik berbahasa Indonesia maupun berbahasa asing, yang
membahas masalah lingkungan di Indonesia.
METODE RISET BLOG LINGKUNGAN
Langkah-langkah yang digunakan untuk meriset Blog-Blog Lingkungan ini antara
lain:
· Pencarian data dengan mesin pencari Google
(http://blogsearch.google.com/)
· Pencarian dengan menggunakan kata-kata kunci: air, hutan, indonesia,
konservasi, lingkungan, masyarakat adat, pencemaran, pertanian, polusi, taman
nasional, tambang, tanah.
· Setting hasil pencarian tiap item dengan hasil 100 artikel.
· Hasil pencarian diutamakan Blog yang menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia.
· Frekuensi links yang muncul diurutkan dari yang paling banyak muncul
(tepatnya: Blog yang paling banyak artikelnya) sampai Blog yang paling sedikit
linksnya.
· Entry yang sama dari satu Blog yang sering muncul berulang pada
lain-lain kata kunci akan dihitung satu entry.
HASIL RISET
Data Blog yang diperoleh antara lain mencapai 1200 artikel/entry (12 kata kunci
X 100 artikel). Dari 1200 artikel hasil pencarian tersebut ada 339 artikel yang
sesuai dengan kriteria dan menghasilkan 234 Blog yang bertemakan lingkungan.
Rincian dari 234 Blog itu antara lain:
1. 16 enty = 1 Blog
2. 12 entry = 1 Blog
3. 11 entry = 1 Blog
4. 6 entry = 2 Blog
5. 5 entry = 1 Blog
6. 4 entry = 3 Blog
7. 3 entry = 9 Blog
8. 2 entry = 25 Blog
9. 1 entry = 190 Blog

PENGANTAR
Apakah ada Blog yang membahas masalah lingkungan? Kalau ada berapa banyak
jumlahnya? Siapa penulis Blog-Blog yang bertemakan lingkungan tersebut?
Pertanyaan-pertanyaan ini timbul ketika saya membaca sebuah artikel yang
berjudul Top 100 Blog Indonesia (atau kira-kira seperti itu) Dari daftar 100
buah Blog itu mana saja Blog yang membahas mengenai topik lingkungan? Oleh
karena tidak ada waktu untuk "melihat" satu per satu isi dari ke-seratus Blog
tersebut, maka saya membuat sebuah riset kecil untuk menjawab
pertanyaan-pertanyaan yang muncul di benak saya itu. Yang jelas riset ini sangat
tidak ilmiah dan subyektif sekali, karena metode yang digunakan juga secara
alakadarnya. :-))
APA ITU BLOG?
Sebelum membahas hasil riset saya yang sangat tidak ilmiah ini, saya akan
menyinggung sedikit tentang Blog. Uraian berikut ini saya sarikan sari artikel
yang berjudul: Apa tuh Blog? hasil karya Enda Nasution.
· Blog adalah singkatan dari Weblog. Istilah Weblog untuk menyebut
kelompok website pribadi yang selalu diupdate secara kontinyu dan berisi
link-link ke website lain yang mereka anggap menarik disertai dengan
komentar-komentar mereka sendiri.
· Blog kemudian berkembang mencari bentuk sesuai dengan kemauan para
pembuatnya atau para Blogger. Blog adalah cara mudah untuk mengenal kepribadian
seseorang Blogger. Topik-topik apa yang dia sukai dan tidak dia sukai, apa yang
dia pikirkan terhadap link-link yang dia pilih, apa tanggapannya pada suatu isu.
Seluruhnya biasanya tergambar jelas dari Blog-nya. Karena itu Blog bersifat
sangat personal.
· Perkembangan lain dari Blog yaitu ketika kemudian Blog bahkan tidak lagi
memuat link-link tapi hanya berupa tulisan tentang apa yang seorang Blogger
pikirkan, rasakan, hingga apa yang dia lakukan sehari-hari. Blog kemudian juga
menjadi Diary Online yang berada di Internet.
· Satu-satunya hal yang membedakan Blog dari Diary atau Jurnal yang biasa
kita miliki adalah bahwa Blog dibuat untuk dibaca orang lain. Para Blogger
dengan sengaja mendesain Blog-nya dan isinya untuk dinikmati orang lain.
· Siapa sih para Blogger di Internet ini? Evan Williams, pendiri
Blogger.com berpendapat, “Mayoritas Blogger adalah anak-anak muda atau
mahasiswa. Dan banyak diantara mereka yang menggunakannya untuk berkomunikasi
dengan teman-temannya.”.
· Setiap orang tentu saja dapat membuat Blog-nya masing-masing, tapi
seperti yang dikatakan Evan, Blogger saat ini kebanyakan terdiri dari para
penulis diary muda yang dinamis, offbeat dan punya opini untuk segala hal. Dalam
kata lain mereka adalah generasi yang tidak takut berpendapat dan mengungkapkan
pendapat mereka.
· Ketika setiap harinya ia mengupdate Blog-nya ia mulai mempertimbangkan
opini dan ide-idenya dengan lebih hati-hati dan ia mulai merasakan bahwa
perspektifnya adalah unik dan penting untuk disuarakan.
· Ketika seorang blogger menuliskan apa yang ada di pikirannya, maka ia
akan sering berkonfrontasi dengan pikiran-pikiran dan opininya sendiri. Menulis
Blog, atau Blogging, setiap hari akan membuat Blogger menjadi penulis yang lebih
percaya diri. Dengan terbiasa mengekspresikan pikirannya pada Blog-nya, seorang
Blogger dapat dengan lebih baik mengartikulasikan opininya. Blog bahkan dapat
menjadi semacam terapi jiwa.
· Blog dengan caranya sendiri sepertinya membuat hidup, pikiran, opini dan
kegiatan Bloggernya lebih mempunyai tujuan dan lebih teratur.
· Apa ada para Blogger indonesia? Website yang mendaftar para Blogger
Indonesia yaitu Indo.Blogs . Kriteria satu-satunya agar Blog terdaftar pada
Indo.Blogs hanyalah berkebangsaan Indonesia, tanpa memandang secara geografis
lokasi kamu berada.
· Lalu apakah ada Community Blog Indonesia? Silahkan arahkah browser ke
MSN.OR.ID . Para Blogger disini disebut “celetukers” karena sifatnya dimana
masing-masing Blogger memang menyeletukan sesuatu yang kemudian mengisi website
ini.
· Lebih jauh lagi tentang Komunitas Blogger di Indonesia? Bloggerians
adalah mailing list diskusi terbuka untuk komunitas para Blogger Indonesia yang
terbentuk sejak bulan Maret 2001 dan saat ini dianggotai oleh 45 anggota (saat
artikel ini dibuat oleh Enda Nasution pada akhir tahun 2001).
APA ITU BLOG LINGKUNGAN?
· Blog Lingkungan adalah blog yang bertemakan lingkungan. Dalam hal ini
istilah lingkungan dimaknai sangat longgar, yaitu segala sesuatu yang berkaitan
dengan lingkungan hidup.
· Bila ingin definisi lingkungan yang lebih akurat dapat dilihat pada
Pasal 1 UU No. 23 Tahun 1997 tentang Pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup, yaitu
"Lingkungan hidup adalah kesatuan ruang dengan semua benda, daya, keadaan, dan
makhluk hidup, termasuk manusia, dan perilakunya, yang mempengaruhi kelangsungan
perikehidupan dan kesejahteraan manusia serta makhluk hidup lain".
· Isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan hidup antara lain: air, hutan,
indonesia, konservasi, lingkungan, masyarakat adat, pencemaran, pertanian,
polusi, taman nasional, tambang, tanah, dan lain-lain.
· Blog Lingkungan ditulis oleh para blogger, baik oleh orang Indonesia
maupun oleh orang asing - baik berbahasa Indonesia maupun berbahasa asing, yang
membahas masalah lingkungan di Indonesia.
METODE RISET BLOG LINGKUNGAN
Langkah-langkah yang digunakan untuk meriset Blog-Blog Lingkungan ini antara
lain:
· Pencarian data dengan mesin pencari Google
(http://blogsearch.google.com/)
· Pencarian dengan menggunakan kata-kata kunci: air, hutan, indonesia,
konservasi, lingkungan, masyarakat adat, pencemaran, pertanian, polusi, taman
nasional, tambang, tanah.
· Setting hasil pencarian tiap item dengan hasil 100 artikel.
· Hasil pencarian diutamakan Blog yang menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia.
· Frekuensi links yang muncul diurutkan dari yang paling banyak muncul
(tepatnya: Blog yang paling banyak artikelnya) sampai Blog yang paling sedikit
linksnya.
· Entry yang sama dari satu Blog yang sering muncul berulang pada
lain-lain kata kunci akan dihitung satu entry.
HASIL RISET
Data Blog yang diperoleh antara lain mencapai 1200 artikel/entry (12 kata kunci
X 100 artikel). Dari 1200 artikel hasil pencarian tersebut ada 339 artikel yang
sesuai dengan kriteria dan menghasilkan 234 Blog yang bertemakan lingkungan.
Rincian dari 234 Blog itu antara lain:
1. 16 enty = 1 Blog
2. 12 entry = 1 Blog
3. 11 entry = 1 Blog
4. 6 entry = 2 Blog
5. 5 entry = 1 Blog
6. 4 entry = 3 Blog
7. 3 entry = 9 Blog
8. 2 entry = 25 Blog
9. 1 entry = 190 Blog

Jan 24 (AFP) - Coral reefs and mangroves in many parts of the world are being destroyed for quick gain, yet they are worth tens of billions of dollars as shields against natural disasters and as long-term economic resources, a UN report issued Tuesday said.
In the first attempt to place dollar values on these havens of biodiversity, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) said the bill from disasters such as the 2004 Asian tsunami and the record 2005 US hurricane season could have been slashed by preserving coastal buffers.

Jan 24 (AFP) - Coral reefs and mangroves in many parts of the world are being destroyed for quick gain, yet they are worth tens of billions of dollars as shields against natural disasters and as long-term economic resources, a UN report issued Tuesday said.
In the first attempt to place dollar values on these havens of biodiversity, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) said the bill from disasters such as the 2004 Asian tsunami and the record 2005 US hurricane season could have been slashed by preserving coastal buffers.
"Reefs and mangroves play an important role in shore protection under normal sea conditions and during hurricanes and tropical storms," it said in a report issued at a conference hosted by UNESCO in Paris on the state of the world's oceans.
"At least 70-90 percent of the energy of wind-generated waves is absorbed, depending on how healthy these ecosystems are and their physical and ecological characteristics."
As for tsunamis, coral and mangroves can also absorb much of the sting from giant waves, although the degree of cushioning depends how and where the initial quake occurs, the gradient of the shoreline and type and thickness of vegetation.
The report hammers out the message that the accelerating destruction of corals and mangroves is economically senseless as well as environmentally damaging.
Wisely used for small-scale fishing, as sightseeing for intelligent tourism or for selling aquarium fish, coral reefs are annually worth between 100,000-600,000 dollars per square kilometer (259,000-1.554 million dollars per square mile), depending on location, it said.
Mangroves are worth between 200,000-900,000 dollars per sq. km. (526,000-2.36 million dollars per sq. mile) each year, mainly as a fishing resource.
Corals and mangroves also play a key role in preventing erosion of the coast, preserving beaches, roads and homes. UNEP cited the example of Sri Lanka, which earns around 5.5 million dollars a year and employs around 50,000 people by exporting aquarium fish to Europe and the United States. "A kilo of aquarium fish was worth nearly 500 dollars (227 dollars a pound) in 2002, compared with a kilo of food fish, which sold for about six dollars (2.7 dollars a pound)," it noted.
A 440-sq.-km. (167.-sq.-mile) managed mangrove forest in Matang, Malaysia, supports a fishery worth 100 million dollars a year, and forestry products worth 10 million dollars annually. "Day in and day out and across the oceans and seas of the world, nature is working to generate incomes and livelihoods for millions, if not billions of people," said UNEP Executive Director Klaus Toepfer.
Yet the true value of such ecosystems is rarely noted because of short-term methods of estimating profit, the report said. As a result, coral reefs are being destroyed by abusive fishing, anchor damage and reckless tourism, and mangroves are being degraded by destructive aquaculture and timber extraction. Both are threatened by pollution and climate change.
Some 30 percent of coral reefs are already seriously damaged and 60 percent could be lost by 2030. An estimated 35 percent of the world's original mangrove cover has already disappeared, and some countries have lost up to 80 percent. The cost of preserving them is minimum -- 775 dollars per sq. km. (2,040 dollars per sq. mile), to set up and police a protected marine area -- but the cost of losing them is very high, said the report.
It gave the example of the Maldives, which had to spend 10 million dollars per kilometer (16 million dollars per mile) to install artificial breakwaters made of concrete tetrapods to protect its shores after its natural reef was degraded. And in Indonesia, a hotel in West Lombok is spending 125,000 dollars each year in a seven-year bid to restore its 250-metre (300-yard) beach after coral mining eroded an offshore reef, allowing ocean currents to sweep the precious sand away.
The document was produced by UNEP's World Conservation Monitoring Centre, in collaboration with the International Coral Reef Action Network and the World Conservation Union (IUCN).
The figures are based on studies carried out in Sri Lanka, Samoa, Thailand, Indonesia and the West Indies.
