Pakar biologi ternama Dr EO Wilson menjabarkan Biophilia sebagai akar atau awal untuk tumbuhnya kepekaan terhadap lingkungan:"Imagine a very large circle that represents an environmental studies program. It includes several scientific disciplines, focused on solving the problems we are facing in the environment. Imagine another circle that encompasses what you could call nature writing. Imagine that these two circles overlap. In that interface is our theme, which is biophilia, the root of environmental concern.
