De-growth as Political, economic and social concept - The European Institute - EIILIR

De-growth as Political, economic and social concept - The European Institute - EIILIR: De-growth is a political, economic and social concept according to which the permanent increase of the world's demography and the economic growth which should spill over from it does not benefit mankind but threatens the environment, peace, and for the most pessimistic persons the survival of the human being. This is why it is opposed to sustainable development. Anti-productivist and anti-consumerist movements, as well as a number of ecologist movements, make use of it, and sometimes de-growth is said to be « sustainable » and « convivial ».
